How Do I Draw a Box Around Groups in Crystal Reports 2008?

During a number of recent Crystal Reports 2008 training sessions, delegates have asked the same question: "How do I draw a box around the groups of the report in Crystal Reports 2008?"

Solution:

The trick to this little problem is to ensure that when the box is being drawn that it starts at the top of the Group Header section and finishes in the Group Footer section.

  1. Press the Insert Box button

  2. Draw the box, starting in the Group Header section and finishing in the Group Footer section

  3. Right click on the box outline

  4. Select the Format Box option

  5. In the Format Editor dialog box, select the Extend to Bottom of Section when Printing:

  6. Press the OK button
