How Do I Find Out the version of SQL Server Service Packs have been Installed

A common question that I have to ask my clients, is "What version of SQL Server Service are you working on and what Service Packs have been installed?"

More often than not, the client does not know.

Solution:

The quickest way to find out which version of SQL Server and its installed Service Packs is in either Enterprise Manager or SQL Server Management Studio, type the following T-SQL command:

SELECT @@VERSION
