How Do I Apply Conditional Formatting to a Bar Chart in SQL Server Reporting Services?

During an SSRS bespoke workshop the delegates wanted to know how to apply conditional formatting to their bar charts.

Solution:

  1. Create a new report, datasource and dataset
  2. Add a Bar Chart object to the report canvas
  3. Add the required fields to the chart
  4. Right click on the series
  5. Select the Series Properties option
  6. Click on the Fill options
  7. Press the Pick Colour section, press the fx button
  8. Enter the conditional formatting formula, in the Expression box:

    =iif(Count(Fields!Order_ID.Value)  > 75 ,"Red","Lime")

  9. Press the OK button
  10. Press the OK button
  11. Preview the report
