During a recent Crystal Reports writing project, my client was using a 3rd party Crystal Report viewer to run some of their reports.
However when this report was then exported from the 3rd party viewer into Microsoft Excel, it created some unexpected results, w.r.t. the formatting.
Since Crystal Reports version XI ((R2), 11.5), there has been a feature that allows designers to save the default export options for the report, which is saved within the report.
When the user then exports the report, these settings are shown as default.
Solution: To save the default Export option for a report:
- Open the report
- Go to File > Export > Report Export Options
-
Select a required Export application and press OK
-
Set the desired options and press OK
-
Save the report
Note: A report can hold numerous report default exports, so one can create default exports for PDF, Word, Excel and CSV.
