The UK went into lockdown on the 21st March 2020, in response to the Covid pandemic, as a training company this meant that face to face training was replaced overnight.
At the beginning I tried delivering Crystal Training virtual training to my clients, but it was fraught with challenges reducing the learning experience for the delegates.
One of the reasons Maximum Impact Solutions was set up was to gie the best training environment to my clients to reduce the amount of down time between the delagates training and them being able to implement their newly learnt knowledge and skills within the work place.
- Devised an extensive training needs analysis (TNA) protocol including surveys and testing current knowlege,
- Created bespoke training course outlines and using their databases and real life problems as part of the course, and
- Delivered the courses on-site to reduce their te away from their offices and desks.
What I noticed with most of the training providers was an adoption of a one size fits all approach to selling trainnig and the TNA went straight out of the window.
One of the things I noticed and concerned me was that lack of control when delivering virtual training, especially with the option that they could attend, and for whatever reason they could have their cameras off.
Even with their cameras one, they is no way as a trainer you could tell how engaged the delegates were, if they understood and/or if they were doing the exercises.
Then there was the commection issues, frustrations with technology, great when it works but a nightmare when it doesn't, creating additional barriers to learning.
Interestingly, as a trainer, I felt more drained delivering the courses virtually, than I did in the on-site classroom setting.
Although this has coe out of necessuty, I'm actually questioning the validity and effectiveness of virtual training to the individual.
Are they really get a learning experience that allows them to do their jobs effectively and efficiently post virtual training?
I'm not convinced, and this is why I have decided to put the training side of the business on the back burner for now, as I don't feel and/oe believe virtual training delivers real value for money to my clients.
What's you thoughts on and/or experience of virtual training, post them in the comments.
